In the best effort of transparency, I wanted to provide an update on our recent projects around campus funded by the Maintenance Fund.
In January, I decided to close the Saint Kateri Lodge building because of drastic damage. The severe weather caused water to seep through the ceiling and corners of the building. It became unsafe to use the building for anything but storage. After the installation of a new roof and some cleanup, Kateri Lodge is up and running again. Many repairs are still needed to this space:removing and replacing insulation, tearing out the carpet and renovating the floor, painting the ceilings, parking lot repair/replacement, and major exterior refresh (siding, windows, doors).
Along with the Kateri Lodge, the roof over the Holy Family Center was replaced in early July. The pitched roof over the church sanctuary was also replaced in August of 2023.
Another major project was the installation of the new HVAC system in August. What a blessing to have cool air conditioning on hot summer days!
The total cost of these projects was $344,853, which was covered 100% by the Maintenance Fund.
Now, we will continue to work on building maintenance and plan for upcoming projects: bell tower repairs, new carpet in the Narthex and office areas, painting on walls/ceiling in the sanctuary, an Adoration Chapel refresh, exterior church siding replacement, and building a new confessional in the northwest corner of the sanctuary. More details about these projects will be provided in November with the State of the Parish.
I am very grateful for your commitment to OLC through the Maintenance Fund. Your support is very appreciated and does not go unnoticed.
