Welcome, families, to a new year of faith formation. My name is Katy De’Ath and I head our middle school faith formation and Confirmation preparation program. I’ve been at St Luke’s working with our youth in ministry for almost 7 years and am excited to continue partnering with you to form our young people in the faith.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS
PARENT MEETINGS Please join us for a required parent information meeting on Sunday September 10th 6:00-8:00pm.If you are unable to make it Sunday, there is another meeting on Wednesday Sept 13th 6:00-8:00pm. These parent meetings are NOT classes for our students, but are directed to the PARENTS (teens are welcome to come though). The first part of the meeting we will be going over expectations, sharing important information, and answering questions. The second part will be like an open house where you will have an opportunity to meet teachers, view curriculum, and see the classrooms. I hope to end earlier than 8:00pm, but please plan to attend the whole time.
CALENDAR
Our first class will be Sunday September 17th 6:00-8:00pm. We are meeting for 16 regular sessions, in two 8 week “semesters” – one in the fall and one in the spring – with touch point opportunities during the “break”. Please view the entire calendar below. Please note, the date for the sacrament of Confirmation and rehearsal is not confirmed.
I will mainly communicate by email, but would also recommend you accept the invite or add yourself to the faith formation Remind.com messaging class.Remind is an app that allows me to send short messages via text (you only need a phone number) or the Remind app (download and enable push notifications). I will use this to send class reminders, communicate any last minute changes, or share short updates. You can also use it to respond to me directly, just like texting. Please feel free to already add yourself by texting the corresponding code in the table below to 81010.

First year Confirmandi are asked to serve 5 hours in the church and community and second year Confirmandi are asked to serve 10 hours. Everyone is called to lead a life of service to the Lord and our neighbors so consider getting involved already in these upcoming events:

EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS Sept 8-9th Charlotte Convention Center Consider attending the Eucharistic Congress next weekend with your family. It is free to attend and brings in thousands of Catholics from around the Diocese. Middle schoolers attend with parents and there is a dedicated high school track for older teens.
